The Nuon Lely offshore wind farm, located in the Netherlands, was a pioneer of the 1990s. After 24 years of operation, the farm was approaching the end of its life cycle and becoming less profitable. The challenge was the complete decommissioning and removal of the structures.
The project

The Solution
Dieseko Group provided a high-capacity solution to meet the client’s needs for a swift and effective dismantling process.
- Equipment used: PVE 500M (The heaviest single PVE vibratory hammer).
- Performance: The wind farm was dismantled in only 180 minutes.
Evolving expertise
The Lely project was a success that demonstrated our ability to handle complex offshore removals. Since then, Dieseko Group has continuously improved its technology:
- From PVE 500M to GIANT: We have developed the GIANT series to meet the growing demands of the offshore industry.
- Knowledge & Data: We have gained deeper technical knowledge and implemented better monitoring systems to provide real-time insights during operation.
- Integrated Upending Systems: We have integrated upending systems directly into our vibratory hammers. This makes the transition of the pile from horizontal to vertical (and vice versa) a fluid operation, reducing deck space requirements, simplifying rigging, and increasing overall safety.
Conclusion
The Lely project remains a key example of how Dieseko Group’s vibratory technology provides a reliable solution for decommissioning. We take the lessons from our success at Lely to offer our customers the most advanced, data-backed technology available today.
