The ICE 815D is shaping the Black Sea Coastline on Ambassadori Island Batumi

Along the gravel shores of the Black Sea, the Ambassadori Group is constructing the 84-hectare artificial Ambassadori Batumi Island. This landmark development will reshape the coastline, bringing premium real estate to the vibrant resort city of Batumi.

To reclaim land from the sea, the area is being filled with gravel sourced from a nearby river.

Challenging soil conditions

Due to these difficult soil conditions, sheet piling was chosen to stabilize the reclaimed land. The client selected PU 22 sheet piles from Arcelor Mittal, measuring 12 meters in length and 600 millimeters in width. The piles were readily available from their subsidiary, Projects Georgia.

Medium-sized hammer, maximum efficiency

To install the sheet piles, the client opted for our ICE 815D vibratory hammer. This medium-sized hammer offers an excellent ratio of eccentric moment to total weight. Ideal for this type of work. The gravel layers contained a high fraction of large stones, with diameters up to 25 centimeter. The 815D handled these conditions with ease, driving the piles to final depth within just five minutes.

Engineered for demanding environments

Summers in Batumi are hot and humid, but ICE equipment is built to perform. The forced lubrication of the gear casing and the high-capacity cooling system of the power pack ensure reliable operation even under extreme ambient temperatures.
